On Sunday, April 2nd, 2017, I went to Six Flags Great Adventure for the second day of operation and my first time since 2016. I arrived around 3:30 and was in the park by 3:45. It was a little crowded but for opening weekend, it was empty. I headed to Nitro which probably had the longest line of 30-40 minutes. I rode towards the back for more airtime and because my dad wouldn't ride front. The airtime was pretty strong on the drop, hills and especially the final bunny-hop hills for it being closed for a while. I then headed to my favorite ride in the park: El Toro.
Went for a back row ride since the front was packed and I totally don't regret it. Still my favorite coaster because it ran with such strong airtime throughout the whole ride. While in line, I saw Kingda Ka running which was closed since I got there. I headed there and it closed. I waited 15 minutes and it finally opened. I spent 15 minutes in line and waited for the front row. I had a pretty noticeable foot vibration on the launch and the restraints locked down a little hard but it was still a fun ride. I almost got a rollback because we went super slowly over the hill and the train did that on every course. I heard some people talking about a rollback or two that day! After that, I went for one last ride on El Toro (of course back row) then made a stop at the Runaway Mine Train for my dad.
It was painful but it was fun to share a memory like that with my dad. I then bought a pretzel for the ride home and headed home around 7:30. Overall, it was a great 4 hours at the park and a great first 2017 visit.
