El Toro is an Intamin Prefabricated wooden roller coaster located at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey (my HP). El Toro opened on June 12, 2006 and was an instant success. In my opinion, this is and will be my favorite wooden roller coaster for a while. I get to ride it a lot in many seats (front, back and middle) so I definitely have a good feel for it. Let’s get on with the review.

So El Toro is a spectacular woodie. It stands 180 feet tall, drops you 176 feet at a 76 degree angle reaching speeds of 70 miles per hour. This coaster packs a PUNCH! Back row is definitely amazing on this, you just get whipped over the first drop. The cable lift hill gives you a bit of speed going around the turn and you get tossed up no matter what row, but especially back row. I haven’t found a “magic seat” but anything over than a wheel seat because those are rough especially the farther back you go.

The experience on this ride is incredible. It’s glossy smooth and the airtime is CRAZY! The first two hills are the craziest ejector airtime you will ever experience on a wooden coaster. You are constantly out of your seat and the elements get thrown at you so fast. Towards the end after the twister curves, it slows down a little, but that is usually before the start of summer when the ride is getting warmed up so usually the last two hills are floater but towards the end of the year, they get to be ejector.

So many people consider this ride overrated and i have to agree. The first time I rode this, I was not a coaster enthusiast. I rode it and was like “holy sh*t, that was awesome!” I can see why people find it overrated but it is still an amazing roller coaster that you have to ride in your lifetime. It is one of a kind and is up there with the amazing RMCs. Definitely #1 in the park.

The theme is loose, not that strong. It has some decent theming compared to the other rides at SFGADV (Bizarro has the strongest in my opinion). It has a bull at the entrance, music that plays in the line and plaza and it feels really amazing while you’re there. I’d give the scenery a 6/10 because it really sets the mood with the music and scenery that six flags did. Best themed section in my opinion.

All in all, this roller coaster is one of the best; amazing airtime, incredible drop, smooth as heck, and a powerful night ride. I would recommend getting a front or back row night ride, those are incredible. This ride (along with Kingda Ka and Nitro) is definitely worth to come out to Six Flags Great Adventure soon to ride it. It is one of a kind and definitely earns the title “The Bull”.
